Crazy Man!

About a week and a half after Alex was born, we were at a family party at a park in Ogden. Joseph was playing with our nieces and nephews, and they were having races and rolling down a very steep hill. The last time Joseph went down, he was running and momentum got the best of him. He fell forward and landed square on his left shoulder. Because Joseph is always joking around, after he fell, all the kids came and jumped on him, thinking he fell on purpose. Well, long story short, after four hours in the ER that night, it was determined he had separated his shoulder from his collar bone, tearing all of the ligaments in between. OUCH!!! There's isn't much to do except wait and let time heal his shoulder. For the next few weeks, Joseph couldn't do much of anything, including lift his newborn son! Needless to say, his biggest concern was whether or not he could run. He had his big Wasatch Back Relay Race in only a week and a half. The doctor told him he could run and not damage anything further, but it was going to hurt! Well, rather than let his team down, he actually was able to complete all three of his legs of the race, thanks to his friend Lortab! I can't believe he actually did it, he's a Crazy Man!

Hello! I found your blog through Dave and Rachel's. I have to tell you, it’s a really nice way to reconnect with old friends and get a glimpse of their beautiful and growing families. Clark did a very similar thing as what Joseph is described as doing. While he was playing football, he got his arm broken in two different places and he could not easily lift his newborn son either! And as for the Wasatch Back, I think it’s crazy to run even in good health. Way to go Joe! That's quite an accomplishment.
Hey, if you’re interested, check us out at zparks.blogspot.com.

P.S. I still remembered that you wanted to get a copy of South Pacific. Let me know how we can get that taken care of for you!

He IS crazy! Can't hold a newborn but can run basically a 1/2 marathon?? Must be some powerful drugs. Congrats to him for completing the race - that alone is an accomplishment when in perfect health!!
