A Wonderful Thanksgiving

Despite the somber looks on their faces, these cousins have so much fun together, and hardly watched any movies. They just play and play the whole time together!

Here we are at a park. We tried to take the kids to Hoover Dam, but the traffic was terrible! We decided to turn around and have a picnic at a park. The kids probably had more fun doing this!

On Thanksgiving night, we danced around and had to freeze when the music stopped. We also played red light, green light. Our kids are all at a very easy-to-please age.

The Founders of the Feast!


This year we decided to try to catch a little warmth for Thanksgiving. We went to visit Joseph's sister and brother in law, Sarah and Jerry and their three darling children. We drove down the day before Thanksgiving. Lucky for us the predicted "storm of the century" the day before didn't turn out to be much of a storm at all. Joseph and Sarah ran in a 5K Thanksgiving morning to kick off the holiday. Our children all play so well together, and were so happy to be with each other. We hardly saw our boys the whole time we were there. Except at 4:45 in the morning when Alex was awake for the day. That boy. He just doesn't need a normal amount of sleep. Thank goodness for Buzz Lightyear to entertain him until morning. Jerry and Sarah fixed us a wonderful dinner, complete with all the trimmings. We all wanted to go shopping the next morning for Black Friday, but with six kids 6 and under, we didn't get out of the house until 11:30. We still had a fun time shopping, and were able to find some good deals. We went to see Christmas lights that night and then to the movies to see Despicable Me. The next day we tried to go to the Hoover Dam, but after sitting in traffic for 45 min without moving much, we decided to turn around. We took everyone to a park instead, which they just loved. Sarah arranged for two babysitters for that night, and we were able to go on a double date with just the adults. Woohoo! We went to a delicious steak house, and then did a little Christmas shopping. We had such a wonderful time. The next day we headed home, but probably should have checked the weather report a little closer. Thank goodness we said a prayer before we left, because we needed it. Poor Joseph white-knuckled it all the way home, which took us 10 1/2 hours. We were so grateful to be home safe and sound, unlike the twenty some odd cars we passed who had spun out or hit other cars. Not to mention the oil tanker that had tipped over and caused the freeway to be closed both ways. We have so much to be thankful for this year. We are especially thankful for Joseph's job, and good health. We are thankful for the Gospel and for the happiness and hope it brings to our lives. And we are so thankful for our three sweet boys who keep our lives hopping and full of fun!!!
